Lawyer Biography

I am Terence G. Hoerman, an immigration attorney with more than 30 years of experience representing individuals in complex immigration matters throughout New York, Michigan, and Florida. My practice focuses on deportation defense, bond hearings, motions to reopen, and federal immigration appeals, as well as a full range of family-based immigration cases.

Over the course of my career, I have litigated cases in immigration courts across the country, including at 26 Federal Plaza in New York. I have handled high-stakes matters involving prior removal orders, prolonged detention, and cases where relief had previously been denied.

I am known for taking on difficult cases that others may decline. I have successfully helped clients reopen immigration proceedings after final orders of removal and guided them toward lawful permanent residence—even in situations where prior counsel believed no options remained.

My areas of practice include:

  • Deportation and removal defense

  • Immigration detention and bond hearings

  • Writs of habeas corpus

  • Motions to reopen and reconsider

  • Asylum, withholding of removal, and CAT protection

  • Appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA)

  • Federal court immigration litigation

  • Family-based immigration filings

I represent clients in multiple jurisdictions, including New York City, Detroit (Wayne County), Tampa, and Southwest Florida (Lee and Collier Counties), and regularly appear in both immigration and federal courts.

I am committed to providing strategic, results-driven representation, working closely with each client to identify legal pathways and opportunities that may otherwise be overlooked.
