Lawyer Biography

Lara Traum is an attorney and mediator at The Law Firm and Mediation Practice of Alla Roytberg, P.C., where she assists clients with prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, matrimonial matters, real estate, and trusts and estates. She is licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and is fluent in Russian.

Lara earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she concentrated in Family and Matrimonial Law and received the Jacob Burns Medal for Scholastic Achievement. She also served as Editor-in-Chief of the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution. During law school, she achieved top honors in mediation competitions, earning first place in national and international Cyberweek eMediation competitions and second place in the Northeast Regional ABA Representation in Mediation Competition. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from New York University.

She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the New York State Council on Divorce Mediation, the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Families and the Law, the Queens County Bar Association’s Solo and Small Law Firm Committee, and the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division. Her past involvement includes committees of the New York City Bar Association and the Family and Divorce Mediation Council of Greater New York. Lara also serves on the Board of Directors of the Townsend Harris High School Alumni Association and previously served on the board of COJECO (Council of Jewish Émigré Community Organizations).

Lara has published extensively on mediation and family law in respected journals such as the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution and the Family Court Review. Her scholarship includes work on prenuptial agreements, conflict wellness, and the evolving role of mediation in family law.

Before entering the legal field, Lara was deeply involved in the arts through her work with the Zamir Choral Foundation. She conducted a HaZamir chapter and performed as a soprano and soloist with the Zamir Chorale, appearing at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.
