Karen began her legal career through the prestigious Attorney General Honors Program, serving as a judicial law clerk with the U.S. Department of Justice in New York Immigration Courts. There, she assisted Immigration Judges in deportation and removal proceedings, gaining valuable insight into how such cases are evaluated and decided.
She later served as an Asylum Officer with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security after completing intensive training through the Asylum and International Operations Directorate. This role provided her with a deep understanding of how asylum claims are assessed, further strengthening her ability to build compelling and strategic cases for her clients.
Karen went on to work as a supervisory immigration litigation attorney at a private New York City law firm, where she successfully represented hundreds of clients before Immigration Courts and USCIS. Her experience spans a wide range of matters, including asylum, cancellation of removal, waivers, VAWA petitions, U-Visas, adjustment of status, Special Immigrant Juvenile petitions, and appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals. She has represented clients from diverse backgrounds across Latin America, Eastern Europe, South Asia, and beyond.
